The SUV Update! 2019 Upcoming SUVs

2019 will see updates on the most of the popular SUVs across the automakers and they are expanding the markets towards south Asia and stepping back in the EU and UK market with conventional engines.

The UK and EU are about to put a ban on conventional engines and stepping up for the alternate energy sources for the motoring industry. The UK has plans to move on the electric and hybrid vehicles including bigger transport by 2040.

They would start this move in the next few years however the rest of the European countries have also started moving on the electric systems. But at the moment it’s all about the conventional market and its specific to the SUVs. Let’s start with Porsche Macan.

Porche is updating its Macan in 2019 with minimal changes, it is just a refresh with minimal changes on inside and outside. It is expected that the new Macan will get some more features inside where Porsche would fit in an updated infotainment system, and few tweaks on the dash, however on the power compartment, it is expected that the EU market would see more engine options. It is expected to arrive in spring with 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre engines. Both of them are petrol engines.

Renault Duster

Renault Duster is the next move in the market and it has become a hot cake when appears as the rival to VW T-Cross new SUV coming from the house of German automaker VW.

The new model has evolutionary designing and it picks up the pace from where the current model has left off. A more stylish chrome lined grille and redesigned headlamps along with LED daytime clusters give even more stylish look.

As the duster is giving competition to the T-Cross, it has new generation alloy wheels, a redesigned interior, and more engine options. The current generation model would come with 1.5 litre diesel engines and 1.6 litre petrol engines. Both driving options including front wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems would be available with a choice of both manual and automatic transmissions.

Mercedes GLE

The more muscular and more elegant Mercedes-Benz GLE will get some refresh this year. It is expected that the automaker would update its suspension system with the same found on the Mercedes S-Class models. The new model already has more space and a considerably longer wheelbase to allow more space on the second and third row passengers.

Although third row seats are optional and increase the price to the extreme. An advanced infotainment system with a 12.3 inch display comes as a standard feature and a multifunction steering wheel with touch panels make the driving easy.

The power compartment would get a refined 2.0 litre four cylinder engine as a diesel option and a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine, 3.0 litre diesel would also be available with nine speed automatic transmission as standard on both engines.

Mercedes GLC

For 2019, if the GLE is getting some updates, why the GLC will not get restyled? It is coming with restyled LED headlights and front side bumpers, the grille would be a bit tweaked and the new GLC would get a touch screen infotainment system.

The same 2.0 litre Mercedes engines coming on the C-Class might have a chance to get into the new GLC models as well.

Hyundai Tucson

The midsize SUV segment is one of the hottest segment in the car market and makes like Hyundai and KIA have also participated in this game thrones. The Tucson SUV is one of the most popular SUV on the Hyundai model lineup and it will get some tweaks for 2019.

Might be a facelift with some interior changes and new features including 360degree parking monitor and control system and an adaptive cruise control system.

BMW X7

The rival to the Mercedes Benz GLS, BMW X7 is the largest SUV on the BMW lineup and it is not something casual in the SUV segment, it gives a tough competition to the giant automakers. It sits alongside the 7 series and in the BMW model lineup, it will get the seven series instrument panels.

There is a selection of six and eight cylinder engines available where a 3.0 litre diesel engine and BMW X7 4.4 litre petrol engine can be selected.

Although the first generation of the X4 was introduced in 2014 and the new updated model has been introduced last year with all the right boxes ticked and the new model was noticeably bigger and bolder than the X3 models on which the X4 is based.

The X4 comes with two engine options including the X4 xDrive30i which is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine. This petrol engine is capable of making 252hp of power and a torque of 350Nm. The 3.0 litre six cylinder diesel engine is capable of generating 265hp of power and 350Nm of torque.

The xDrive system is offered as standard because the model focuses on the off-roading. The xDrive system has been connected to the eight speed automatic transmission.

BMW X5

The all new X5 shared its platform with the big brother X7 and this way the X5 has become a bigger version of the previous generation X5 models. It has an updated infotainment system with more features and heads up display with the larger infotainment screen.

More advanced features including Wilkins sound system, speech recognition system and gesture control system with a touch control rear seat entertainment system would be offered as standard. There would be a choice of both petrol and diesel engines where a 3.0 litre inline six cylinder engine is capable of generating 340hp power from its turbocharged induction system.

This BMW engine is capable of producing a hefty torque of more than 500Nm and on the other hand diesel engines are also very capable units. The diesel counterpart would produce 265hp of power and 620nm of torque.

BMW X2

Despite appealing the youngsters in the market, the BMW X2 is one of the prettiest SUV and has a unique exterior and interiors designs.

The new X2 is using the BMW UKL Platform and is one of the most compact SUV on the BMW model lineup. The x2 is the smaller sibling to the X1 shares a lot with the model and has higher similarity index. It uses the 8.8 inches iDrive infotainment display.

Under the bonnet, there are several options available. There are three engines, all of them are turbocharged 2.0 litre engines. One petrol and two diesel options capable of producing 190hp and 230hp respectively.

The petrol counterpart comes with 7 speed automatic transmission however the petrol engine comes with the 8 speed automatic transmission and torque converter.

Audi Q3

Audi Q3 is one of the most popular and successful models in the Audi’s SUV lineup. In terms of design, the Q3 is getting inspiration from the flagship Audi Q8 models.

The new Q3 is bigger, bolder and roomier than the previous versions. The new Q3 is based on the most popular MQB Platform of VW group which marginally increases the length and width of the SUV.

The Q3 has more equipment options including the virtual cockpit with a 12.3 inch touch screen integrated with the Google maps and voice system. There are a number of engines options available including 35TFSI, 40TFSI, 45TFSI, and 30TDI.
