GCloud Backup Review

This simple to use Android app can help you restore your Android device in one go. You can retrieve anything from your music to your documents, call files, logs and more.

More, you could integrate your different devices together so as to save more space. Saving what is important in the cloud means that you don’t have to worry about losing out on stuff that is important to you.

What did we love the most?

Well, for one you could organize your memories in a simple to view timeline. So, you could view your first recorded picture or video in seconds.

It is a paid app available in the Play Store. The free version allows limited backup up to 1 GB. Paid version allows you to create unlimited backup.

How do you use it?

Step 1: Download and install the app from the play store. Tap to open the app.

Step 2: When the app opens for the first time, a new screen appears. You need sign

Up here. Tap on ‘Sign up’ option present at the left bottom corner of the screen. A new screen appears.

Step 3: Enter your email id and password in the space provided and then tap on ‘Sign up’. A new menu pops up asking ‘Verify Registration’. Tap on ‘Proceed’.

Step 4: Once you do so, it takes a few seconds to sign up. The time depends on the of your network connection. Once the sign up has been completed, a new screen appears.

Step 5: This screen asks you to select what you want to back up with many options like contacts, call logs, messages, system settings etc.

Step 6: Now to create a backup of your settings, select the ‘System settings’ option. Untick all the boxes except the ‘System settings’ and tap on ‘done’.

Step 7: A menu pops up saying ‘Congratulations’ and you have configured your backup. Additional information like daily time of back up, requirements etc. are show in the pop up screen. You can change this from the settings in the app as per as your need.

Step 8: Now the home screen of the app appears which has options like backup now, cloud gallery etc. To create a backup of your settings, tap on ‘Backup now’. Wait for the backup to complete. A notification comes saying ‘Backing up System Settings’. The time required depends on size of file and speed of your connection.

Step 9: Once it has been completed, a backup is created in your registered email account. Now to copy your settings to another phone, download and install the G Cloud backup app from the play store in the new phone

Step 10: Open the app by tapping on its icon. Tap on ‘Sign in’ option available at the bottom right corner of the screen. Enter the same email id and password which you used to create the backup in your old phone and tap on ‘Sign in’.

Step 11: Now, the home screen of the app appears. Tap on the ‘Restore’ option available at the right top corner of the screen. A new screen appears.

Step 12: Tap on the name of the device from which you created backup. Again a new screen appears. Tap on System settings. It saves all the system settings backup which you create.

Step 13: If you have made multiple backups, you can choose the correct file by seeing the date and time it was created. It is shown below the names of back up files.

Tap 13: Tap on the correct file name. When you do so, a tick appears across the box adjacent to file name and the file is selected. Tap on ‘Restore’. A new screen appears.

Tap 14: This screen shows you the progress bar of your restore. The time required depends on size of file and speed of your connection. To cancel restoring settings tap on ‘Cancel Restore’.

Step 15: Once the restore has been completed, a message pops up saying your files have been restored and asks you to restart to phone to apply the settings. Tap on ‘OK’.

Step 16: Now restart your phone and your restored settings from your old phone will be applied automatically to your new phone.
