OnePlus TV Anyone? OnePlus Wants To Make Smart TVs

Chinese smartphone makers are looking to diversify into the smart television market as announced by Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO in a blog post.

In his post wrote; “For most of us, there are four major environments we experience each day: the home, the workplace, the commute, and being on-the-move. The home – perhaps the most important environment experience – is just starting to enjoy the benefits of intelligent connectivity.

“We want to bring the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. To do this, we are building a new product of OnePlus’ premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home.

“We call it: OnePlus TV.

The announcement was also made to fans via Twitter as the company solicit ideas from the community on what features and functionalities it wants from a TV

OnePlus has a loyal fan base as they seem to always produce high-end devices with good specifications that always challenges iPhones, Samsung and LG devices at reasonable prices.

There is no launch date though at the company is just getting started

“We have just gotten started,” Lau said, “We want to be clear and make it well known that this decision has been made and we are going to make this product”

Speaking about the company’s vision Lau, said

“I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus.

“As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome.

“We bring inherent advantages to the industry, and with this new division, we’re excited to explore the total connected user experience that can enhance everyday life.”

“Something that seems as simple as displaying the photos from your mobile phone to a television is still difficult to achieve. With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless – and we are looking forward to the future.”
