Reaching that skill height and having to raise and maintain your rank continually is an adrenaline rush.
Winning ranked matches and moving upwards to the top takes determination, dedication and a willing spirit to grind. If that sounds like you, then let’s get rolling.
Note: Following tips written on this article won’t guarantee you wins, but it’s up to you.
Get Out of the Casual Mindset
Involving in casual and ranked gaming are two completely different worlds. The aim of playing ranked is to get to the top of the table. You should not be there to play the game or test out new strategies which are the sole purpose of casual but in ranked you have to keep playing to remain at the top. You should go into ranked with a pure and tested strategy suing whatever player or skill set is your dominant.
Getting to the top of the ranking table takes the mindset of winning. You need to get your head in the game as a famous word goes.
Break their Spirit
Going into ranked matches, it is essential to know that you need to put your best foot forward. You and your teammates should flex and show off your skills also you should be aggressive with your game play as possible. This is to scare the other team and make them surrender and lose hope of winning. If they quit, you win.
But it doesn’t mean that you should verbally abuse other players or do annoying things. Being a true champion is overpower your opponents through your skills alone and not through bullying.
Don’t Give Up
Except for fighting games, matches usually are team matches. Do not be that kind of person who rage quits in the middle of the game or drops the game due to some faulty internet connection. Not only will you be penalised by the game but you will be letting your team down and showing a bad example. Make sure you have a stable internet connection, but Ethernet is always reliable than Wi-Fi and don’t give up when things get tough. Man up!
Keep an Eye on the Rankings
To analyse your opponents and create the best and suitable strategy to lead the ranking, it is essential to check the rank boards. Making sure that you understand the ranking system and how everything works are the only way you will be able to do it.
If you are playing Dota 2 on a PC for example, learn how Dot 2 ranks work so that you will know where to stack up and how far you have to go in becoming a serious competitive player. The same goes for other favourite Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas like Heroes of the Storm and League of Legends.
Weigh the Risks and Benefits
Playing ranked is all about the strategy you apply. You first have to analyse your moves, your opponent’s moves and your teammates move at all time. This means that you should be able to decide which step you should take next. You should be able to decide on the move that offers the most benefit with the smallest amount of risk. Avoid doing or getting into anything hastily. Do not go for that kill unless you are sure that you won’t be in critical danger.
Play What You Enjoy
Even in ranked modes, it still boils than to having fun. Why would you ever put in hundreds of hours into a game if you didn’t enjoy it? But as long as you are playing a game that you love, you will not have any problem making your way to the top of the ranking board.
