VW Atlas 2018

Looking to get hold of the VW Atlas 2018? We will take a look at what you would love about this SUV. For its 2018’s generation, VW has made it into different versions to attract a varied range of buyers. The three row crossover has a room for seven, and two adults could fit in easily in the third row.

The car is already getting rave reviews everywhere, however, the design and the structure of it has become a lot serious and athletic as compared to its previous one. You can choose it in a number of colours, and offers a plush ride.

Airy and open, this car has ventilated and heated front seats. Comfortable and spacious, it has 10 power adjustments to the driver’s seat and is backed with memory setting. The passenger seat has 8 way power adjustable option. It sports leather upholstery and comes with a leather wrapped heated steering wheel.

A lot of its rivals have plenty legroom and headroom similar to what VW Atlas has but in terms of third row seating, this car outsmarts all of them. The third row is also easy to access unlike a lot of other vehicles in this category. The second row can accommodate up to 3 passengers comfortably and the third row has room for 2 passengers. The latch system in place is also very convenient to use.

It has 20.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row intact. Stash the third row and you have 55.5 cubic feet of space. Stash the second row also and you have 96.8 cubic feet. The second row seats can be folded in 60/40 split while the third row seats can be folded in a 50/50 split.

A powerhouse in infotainment, it has a panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth compatibility, plenty of USB ports, an amazing speaker system, 8 inch touch screen, voice recognition feature and the usual Volkswagen Car-Net-App. The touch screen has brilliant graphics and is optimally sensitive. The controls are also easy to access for the driver.

Sturdy to look at, it is a display of toughness and durability. The front end is one of its downsides however as it could have been more sleekly designed.

The V6 engine in this car is capable of providing 276 horsepower and this is paired with an eight speed automatic transmission. The shifting of the gears is very smooth. In terms of fuel efficiency, it is quite a thirsty machine. This however doesn’t require premium gasoline unlike its stable mates. It gives around 17-23 miles per gallon depending if it’s a city or a highway you are driving in. This is less compared to Volkswagen’s Tiguan which offers 20-24 mpg.

Atlas is also known for its towing capability and it can tow up to a 20 foot powerboat easily having a tow rating of 5000 pounds. Atlas comes with four driving modes – Dry, Rainy, Snowy and Rough. For best steering experience, you should switch to the Sport mode.

This is a front wheel drive car but all wheel drive option is also available. It can clock 60 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds. This is a car meant for bad weather or rough roads. It is a huge car but when it comes to manoeuvring this car, it is an easy task and the experience is that of a smaller car. Even if the roads are bumpy, with this car, you will not have a bumpy ride.

Bottom line:

This car is an extremely safe bet for tough terrains and hill roads. It is also safe in terms of crash tests and has extra safety features to give you a trouble free safe and sound ride.
